Katerina (Kathy) Christofidou is Professor in Digital and Sustainable Metallurgy at the University of Sheffield, and leads the Advanced Metals Processing theme for Henry Royce Institute as well as the Royce activities at the University of Sheffield. Her expertise lies at the intersection of high-performance alloy design and advanced manufacturing, with a strong focus on accelerated methods of alloy development and high-throughput testing, including design for the manufacture of high-performance engineering components. Kathy holds a PhD in Metallurgy from the University of Cambridge and an MEng degree in Aerospace Materials Engineering from Imperial College London. Throughout her career, she has cultivated strong ties between industry and academia, consistently delivering impactful metallurgical insights. Her significant contributions to the application of metals to industry were recognised in 2022 with the prestigious Grünfeld medal from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
