Vision: To position Alberta as a globally connected hub for advanced manufacturing, where academic excellence, applied innovation, and international collaboration come together to solve industry challenges and create sustainable economic impact for Alberta.
Brief History
The Alberta Advanced Manufacturing International (AbAMI) Hub was created to address a critical gap in Alberta’s access to and adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies. By accelerating innovation, efficiency, productivity, and job creation and retention, the Hub strengthens Alberta’s manufacturing sector and helps companies compete globally.
Led by the University of Alberta and InnoTech Alberta, and funded by Alberta Innovates, the AbAMI Hub is a collaborative ecosystem that connects world-class research with real-world industry needs. The Hub brings research excellence, applied innovation, and strong industry partnerships together to build Alberta’s advanced manufacturing capacity.
What sets the Hub apart is its direct access to international networks of advanced manufacturing research and innovation. By linking Alberta with leading hubs and ecosystem partners in Europe, Asia, and Australia, the AbAMI Hub helps fast-track new technology solutions, drives revenue supports workforce training and development, and establishes pathways for sustainability and profitability of Alberta companies and industry end-users.
From its inception, the AbAMI Hub has been industry-led and globally connected, guided by manufacturers, workforce partners, and international experts. It is both a strategic response to today’s challenges and a platform to position Alberta for emerging areas of economic and workforce growth.
I am adding this because some of the technologies that are emerging and will emerge from the work of the Hub will be enabling technologies and activities that support or advance economic and labour force growth.
