InnoTech Alberta will lead the technology deployment pillar of the AbAMI Hub. Leveraging its position as a designated cluster in national networks and hubs, long-standing relationships with industry consortia, and an established technology platform, InnoTech Alberta, through the Hub, provides industry with a unique pathway to test and deploy new technologies. The connection to a government-supported organization that is deeply embedded in technology in Alberta ensures industry can access the expertise and infrastructure needed to deploy manufacturing innovations.
Operating on a membership model, the technology deployment pillar offers customized support that aligns with the level of assistance required to meet organizational needs and support manufacturing technology being developed. Recognizing that access and affordability can be barriers, this model allows companies to test equipment before purchase, pursue longer-term production-scale use, or engage in ongoing fee-for-service research and development supported by the Hub.
Through this structure, InnoTech Alberta and the delivery partners at the Alberta post-secondary institutions, other government agencies, and international partner hubs will continue to advance manufacturing solutions developed under the AbAMI research pillar by:
- Determining feasibility for industry adoption and operational integration;
- Advising on further developments to be deployment-ready, including technology assessments and field trials;
- Conducting technology readiness audits to support adoption of new manufacturing solutions;
- Supporting training and negotiations on technology licensing and intellectual property access; and
- Advising and supporting the transition of technologies from research and development to industry deployment.
